The name Falconer comes from the people who trained and used birds, especially Falcons, to hunt for the nobility. This picture was taken at a Falconry site located in central Wales. Many different types of birds are used for "Falconry", including Falcons, Hawks, and Owls. While in the UK, my sister and I saw several different demonstrations of Falconry, most of which involved Owls. At this Falconry location in central Wales, my sister and I were allowed to hold some of the birds, and even hold a piece of meat in our gloved hand so that they would fly to us. Even though it was by no means a very realistic Falconry experience, it was still very exciting, and I was amazed at how much some of the birds weigh.
